Hi-from a slightly deranged insomniac writer.
August 2nd 2007 08:07
"It was a dark and stormy day, with lightning and thunder and all."
This is a writing blog. For writing advice, samples, updates. From a writer. I'm slightly insane, slightly insomniac, and slightly young. I write fiction, short stories, novels, poetry. I write fantasy and a little sci-fi. I write songs and the occasional non-fiction, usually memoir.
I love writing. I have since I was eight years old. It's a passion that will never die in me. Writing is who I am. And I want to help other writers. Why else start a writing blog?
I'm not here to make money, or scam people. I'm here to help other people. With techniques, samples, ideas, links, news, anything I think will help my readers.
Let me introduce to you my various writing projects. The novel I'm working hardest on-the one I'm editing-is called Moonshadow, and it's a dark fantasy. I'm also writing Mena&Matias, a fantasy romance bundle of confusion, Jihad, a very violent and political fantasy, and Eternal Wounds, a sort-of love story. I'm also working on a poetry collection called Into The Shadows-as in, it's already been submitted.
I tell you all this because I don't want you to make assumptions. I'm not published yet. I'm not rich or famous. I'm just an average girl. Okay, not average, but nothing that different. I'm not someone who stands out on the subway or on the streets of Toronto.
But I am me, and I am a writer. Take my advice or leave it-but what harm can it do?
And here, take a look at my favorite blogs while you're at it:
pubrants.blogspot.com - Kristin Nelson, Literary Agent, 'indulges in polite rants' from an agent's point of view.
http://misssnark.blogspot.com/ - the legendary Miss Snark, who retired this year. The Snarkives live on. Read them. She has wonderful information.
Really Long Link - Rachel Vater. Not as constant as Kristin, but she's pretty cool. I enjoy reading it.
Notice I don't have any writers' blogs up yet? I haven't found any that grab me. Although this website...
Really Long Link
caught my eye. She's a good writer, too. I read Tantalize and loved it. Maybe because I'm obsessed with vampires, but whatever. Check it out... and then come back here for more!
(I update regularly; she doesn't.)
