Write What You Love
October 8th 2008 02:50
Today I read an email that Holly Lisle sent out as a newsletter and it reminded me of something very important: that we must all write what we love. Even when you have a million contracts, even when you're working 70 hours a week just writing, you need to write something you love-because if you don't, you get burnt out, you get tired, you get fed up. You get angry.
So today's exercise isn't exactly a prompt. I just think that everyone should, within the next twenty four hours, make a point of writing something they absolutely love. I think it's time that we reminded ourselves just how much fun writing can be, at a very stressful time of year.
I would love it if you responded with whatever you write. I'll post whatever I write here tomorrow.
(It's been a long day; sorry this is so short.)

I love what I just wrote. And as I've said before, I love those amethysts. Focus on them.

I always write in my journal, bang out a poem or write a post. Even if Im not happy with the piece itself, I know I started it with certain intentions and imagery and if it went astray, well, I get the chance to try it again dont I? Sometimes I think its more fulfilling to do ten pieces on one idea than have it go right the first time.
Please, tell me, how the hell do I get paid for writing. I will happily do 70 hours a week....And I will say so until the universe forces me to take it back!

Things between my mother and I aren't good enough for hugs right now; harsh times.
I'm glad you're happy with yourself though-and the amethysts are wonderful.

Kleo,
You truly enjoy the art of writing. I'm glad you do-you do it well.
Seeing things written down and knowing you got it out is a form of payment; anything else takes a lot of hard work and a bit of luck, and sometimes a little talent helps too. Seventy hours a week is a lot of time though... I think I'd go crazy after a few weeks of it-just the monotony of doing one thing for so long every week. To each her own, though.

Those writing without inspiration and passion is just like desert without the nurturing of moisture! Thus, I won't force myself to write if I have no mood or no idea what to write with...
