What Comes Next?

Now that the Dear Diary workshop is over, you may be wondering what to do with your diary and with the time you were previously spending writing your diary. There are several options on where you go from here-you could continue your Dear Diary project, start a new one, start a journal for yourself, or any number of other things.
Here on Fictional Worlds I would like to walk you through some next steps-applying what you've learned about your character to your novel, using the diary to write new stories about your character, possibly even editing the diary or turning it into a novella. Over the next week or so, I'm going to show you what your options are from here.
If you enjoyed this workshop, consider joining me for my Increasing Productivity workshop in July. The workshop will consist of daily exercises and posts discussing the art of time management. In August, I will be doing a workshop on honing your craft. The workshop will start with you writing a short story and each week we will look at a different element of story.
What did you guys like about this workshop? What other kinds of workshops would you like to see here?

I feel slightly odd not starting out with a link. It has been my proxy for an opening salutation. I use greetings as my fallback.
I am glad there will be things to do here this summer. Gives me an excuse to stay off the streets and out of trouble and using important writing muscles. : ) Tweet and I shall play.
WHAT DID I LIKE ABOUT THE WORKSHOP?
In no particular order ...
1. An excuse to keep writing after SFrenzy. Cold turkey is never a good thing for a writer.
2. I got to know Elgin Valois very well and think he might be able to carry a story based on the diary work. That has me excited.
3. The goal being "every day" vs the word count load of Nano or page count load of SFrenzy. Some days I wrote only a little but I defend my choice by saying it "fit" with what was going on in the story.
4. Love being able to exchange ideas and points of view ... triple loved that.
5. Also triple loved the "special" days ... ie another character and (especially) the holiday special. I believe I am a type of writer that quite likes a seemingly arbitrary objective. Write about red. Write about velocity. Write about jaywalking. It is specific (and not a global concept like "love") and allows me to think and craft and get inside the character's head to see how he/she feels / thinks / experiences the world. (I keep asking about Fiction Fridays and where anyone gets the topic from ... out of the air is just hard for me at this point in my development.)
6. Wasn't fond of website I used to post my material but loved that I could and that it was read. (I'm not overly savvy or patient when it comes to blog set ups. I beleive they serve me not the other way around ...)
7. Liked interactivity.
8. The timing of updates worked for me. Often I could check b/f going to work and then could mull over (drive to/from) the concepts.
9. Liked being able to read your posts and get insight into your story/characters/process.
10. I like that I could keep improving (?) or at least thinking about story / process etc - which is important for development as a writer.
I think that is all I can think of for now. It was fun. That would be #11. : )
Cheers!

I'm really glad that you enjoyed this workshop. I've loved reading your work and discussing writing with you. It's been an amazing month long journey into the land of Elgin's head and I think I went most of the way there with you. I'd love to read more about Elgin, especially from his PoV.
Keep writing and keep reading. I'll be sure to tweet when the next workshop comes up.
