Villain's Basic Profile&Character Questionnaire Part one
October 27th 2009 12:18
First I want you to repeat yesterday's exercise, only this time focusing on the Villain and making up their basic profile. Once you've finished that, move on to the character Questionnaire.
You should go through these questions with both your main character and your main villain; it is important to flesh out these two characters so that they seem real-like living, breathing people. Answers to the questions should be up to one paragraph long, no longer.
Character Questionnaire Part One
~What does this character want to acquire/do above all else in their lifetime?
~What does this character want to avoid above all else in life?
~How do these things affect his/her actions both inside and outside of your story?
~What is this character's worst memory and why?
~What is this character's happiest memory and why?
~What are three other motivating factors in this character's life? (People, places or things that inspire your character/are part of who they are)
~What are their three most dominant character traits?
~How do these things affect their actions in the story?
~What is this character's favourite food?
~What is the first thing this character notices when he/she meets a person?
There are more questions which you will finish tomorrow. This course is almost over and Nanowrimo is a few short days away. I hope that you're getting comfortable with your characters and you have a good idea of your plot. Tomorrow you will finish the questionnaire, and then you will come up with an outline for your plot over the next couple of days.
Prompt
Today I want you to write 1, 000 words about unplanned pregnancy.
Please feel free to post part of your exercise/story. I would love to see how you guys are working with this. If you don't want to share it with the world, please email me with your feedback on how these exercises are working for you. My email is diannalgunn@gmail.com
Let me know any ways that you think I can make the course better for next year, what is and is not working for you, and how you like the exercise. I'm always looking to improve my writing and to help other writers.
Thanks for reading,
~Dianna
