Not much today. Actually, I didn't do anything, and I won't get a chance to; I'm heading out now and I won't get home until around eleven thirty. I'm working tomorrow starting at 9:15, so I need to sleep.
See you tomorrow! (I'll post today's post tomorrow. Just think of it as late. Sorry.)
So, I'm on chapter one of the new and improved Fairy Tales books. Starting with The Sisters. So far it has a very modern, urban feel to it, what with Alana and her single mom, their little bungalow and her laptop. Her voice is very much overly-mature ten year old who's been through the tough times, and my writing it makes it just that much more realistic.
By the end of the book, everyone will probably be looking at me funny, seeing as how it and the two after it are pretty much high fantasy, with a couple sci-fi elements thrown in. (One's about the Magi taking over the world, and one's about the afterlife, then about a colony, then about trying to stop someone from killing off the main character. Long story. Took 3 50K novels to tell it the first time around.)
But whatever. It's fun to write, rather lighthearted-so far-in comparison to Moonshadow's Guardian.
I've been thinking about how most of my books are from the point of view of either twenty-somethings or immortals who are centuries old. It makes me laugh. Because 90% of teens who write write mostly if not only YA. But... eh, I'm just a freak.
Well, today, seeing as how I woke up like an hour ago, I haven't done too much... unless you count before I went to bed.
In which case, I am THE obsessive compulsive editor of the day. No joke. I've been editing Moonshadow's Guardian somewhat obsessively. I'm that anxious/hyper to get it out there. I really am.
I redid the first chapter and part of chapter 2, and part of chapter 6. I added more to the ending, creating a new ending. With the new ending, I have this gut feeling that it's *ready*. As in, I somehow know, emotionally, that my book is finished. It's edited as much as me, myself, and I, can really edit it except a few things I'll be adding over the next couple weeks.
I'm proud of this work. I'm proud of it. I'm renaming it again, maybe, to Riana. I'd like some opinions.
But I know that in the next couple of weeks, I'll be ready to submit that. It's finished, I've done what I can, I've moved on to rewriting my first novel (with a much darker tone this time and a higher age group) and its sequels into a one-book trilogy. (Think of how the '3' LOTR books are actually supposed to be 6 volumes. Well my book was 3 originally.)
It's done. Thank gods.
So, which title do you like better? Moonshadow's Guardian or Riana? (Riana being the name of the protaganist.)
