Thoughts And Website Spotlight
November 17th 2009 12:22
Hi everyone. It's my second day of getting nothing done so I'm lowering my goal down to three hundred and fifty thousand. At this rate, that is much more attainable. I just need to pray that this weekend is good for productivity...
I'm sure there are a lot of other people in the same boat at this point, whether their goal be fifty thousand or one hundred thousand or just to finish the book wherever it's meant to end. To all of you-try to keep up a minimum word count during the week, and I wish you all a productive weekend.
To inspire productivity, I challenge you to write 10K in five hours.
This is a writing challenge you can find on the Nanowrimo forums if you follow this link. The challenge is to write 10K in five hours.
This is a great challenge because even if you don't succeed, you will still put a decent dent into your word count and get more done than you probably would under normal circumstances.
And, if you participate in this challenge between now and the 21st at midnight my time-EST-and send me, either by commenting on this post or emailing me at diannalgunn@gmail.com with your username, word count, and a link to a web page/blog if you want me to post one. At the end of this month when I'm wrapping up the Nanowrimo posts, there will be a post linking to everyone who succeeded.
The challenge has helped me out two years in a row now, and I think it's a great self-challenge... even if you don't make it, you're still a winner for even trying.
The other thing I wanted to do is point out a website called Writer Advice which is an ezine giving writers advice. There are submission guidelines on the site, and there are some great articles from what I looked through.
And-we've all accomplished something this month. Whether it be 5, 000 words, 10, 000 words, or 50, 000 words, it is something to be proud of. I'm proud of what I've accomplished this month by writing as much as I have, finishing Phoenix Falling, and continuing to blog almost daily. Whatever you have accomplished with your writing, be proud of it.
There's still plenty of time left in the month. Keep on writing and don't forget-the forums are always there to help you if you need it.
More either later today/tonight or tomorrow. Not sure yet.
Thanks for reading
