The Nightmare Before Christmas: A Poem

Prompt: write a poem about a nightmare Christmas and one about a good Christmas-real or imagined.

A Nightmare For Christmas

Tossing
Turning
Will he die
Will he live?

Will you leave me
Will you rape me,
Take me,
Beat me,
Destroy me?

It's the eve
Of Christmas day
Something tells me
Christ never liked me
Anyway

No
This is not my time of year
It is the eve
Of a great day-
Great in that
I will never forget
The nightmare you gave me
For Christmas.

Because
That nightmare
The nightmare before Christmas
That plagues me to this day
Was a great way
To ruin everything
In all the years to come.
