The Beginning of Week Two

May 10th 2010 12:28
For the last week you've been writing a Dear Diary Project for your chosen character, and by this point you might already be much more familiar with them. I know that this week of diary entries has been very enlightening as to the nature of the Demon. We're coming into the second week of the Dear Diary workshop now, and I hope you're all looking forward to continuing your Dear Diary Project.

Over the course of this week, consider all the things your character might think that they would never say out loud. Maybe your character really wants to smash their boss's teeth in, but for obvious reasons can't do it. Or it could be that your character is falling in love and is afraid to tell the other person for fear it won't be returned.

Remember that your goal is to write something every day. It doesn't have to be long-it just has to be in character for whoever your Dear Diary project is about. Who knows, maybe your character is having a bad day right when you are.

I'm really proud with what I've accomplished so far with my Dear Diary project. This part of the Demon's story is filling right in, and it's helping me to see into his head a lot more than I ever have before.

Have you connected more with your character over the last week?

I have found myself thinking a lot about the character and the reality of his world. It's become a ritual of mine to think about him and his day throughout mine (in anticipation of writing an entry). Things about my day prompt the question - how does / would that play out for Elgin?

I feel like I have ...ah ... company during the day with his voice in my head.

Also - I've been able to sort out some "why he is not the average run of the mill vamp" (ish) to my satisfaction. Some of it hasn't been documented but the ideas are there nonetheless.

I think I'm going to miss this when the month is over.

RP,

I'm glad that you're enjoying this workshop. I'm really enjoying reading what you've written.

Of course, you can continue your diary after the month is over; it all depends on what you want. Who knows, Elgin might gain a following and you might make your name known.
