Sunset On The Beach Part 2
August 19th 2009 18:18
Sauble beach is pretty big. It's at least a few miles long, though I'm not sure where it ceases to be Sauble, or where it ceases to be beach. Earlier I saw at least a hundred people on the beach or in the water. Now most of them have gone back to their cottages for dinner, and many will not return until tomorrow afternoon.
In our cottage there are no clocks, so I lose all sense of time; I just don't care out here. I only notice when night turns to day and day to night. There is no rush to go anywhere. No appointments, no events, just the beach, food and our nightly fire.
It's the most amazing feeling of being free.
Today the sky is completely clear. There isn't a cloud in the sky as far as the eye can see.
It's breathtaking. This is the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time. The sun is slowly making it's descent. I'm amazed.
For me coming out here is always a spiritual thing. When I first get here, the trees and the clean air canter me. I feel at peace with myself and the world around me. When I first swim into the lake, I feel the weight of the stress of city life washing off of me.
I feel cleansed mentally and spiritually.
I truly love this place.
The sun is really coming down now, the sky that pinkish purple colour with a hint of orange, that mix of colours fading into blue. The water is a beautiful shade of blue, a streak of orange on it from the sun.
I've seen what I wanted to see; time to head back to the cottage and roast marshmallows over the fire.
