Sunset On The Beach Part 1
August 17th 2009 19:22
This exercise is a lot longer than the other so I'm going to post it in two parts. There will be a picture with the second part.

Sunset On The Beach
First I must say something about geography and the sun. The sun rises in the East and sets in the West. Where I live, in Toronto, when you look out onto the water you most commonly look to the east, and thus the sunrise is much more beautiful at the beach.
Sauble is northwest of Toronto, somewhere on the shore of lake Huron. When you're on the beach, and looking out over the water, you are facing west; thus the sunset is a thousand times more beautiful.
I came a bit earlier than I needed to, largely because I wasn't sure exactly when the sun would set; as such, this will likely be longer than the sunset exercise, because I will be sitting here writing a good deal longer.
We've been here two days and I find myself wishing I could stay a month. It's absolutely beautiful up here, trees, rocks, water and sand as far as the eye can see in every direction. So peaceful and natural; this is cottage country, and it is so very different from the city.
Here, I'm out of reach. Nobody can call me with their drama. Nobody can contact me in any way. I like that; it's a vacation from the constant fighting and dram of the city. And I'm loving every minute of it.
So far we've lucked out. The weather has been absolutely beautiful, the water has been perfect. I can't swim very well, but two of the people who came with us have lifeguard training, so I'm not worried about drowning; and there are five sand bars here, so I can go pretty far out without having to worry at all.
We've been out four times in the two days we've been here, all four times for about an hour; can't stay away from the beach, especially not in such good weather.
This has been a very cool summer in terms of weather, even in the city, but it never gets overly hot out here; it's always just right. I wish I could spend all summer every summer here.

Part 2 will come tomorrow.
