Some Things To Read And Thoughts From Me
December 7th 2009 12:23
After a few days of rest and relaxation-and going to my mother's house to play Final Fantasy-I'm feeling much better about everything and am ready to tackle my massive reading list of books, blog posts, and stories to critique, and I'm ready to start mapping out my writing for the next year.
First I would like to link you to a couple of great posts about writing:
How Getting An F On Your School Paper Makes You A Better Blogger is a post on problogger which talks about the differences between writing research papers and writing a blog. While this blog as a whole may not be something you're interested-you may not be interested in writing a blog of your own-this post and the other one I'm going to link you two both have applications far beyond the blogosphere. It's a pleasant read as Darren's posts usually are and I'm glad that I was introduced to this blog by the lovely Jeanne Dininni of Orble's own Writer's Notes (clicky).
How To Stop Procrastinating and Start Your Blog is a great post about why people procrastinate and how to stop. This is something that applies to all areas of your life, whether it be starting a novel, starting a rewrite, starting a blog, or getting a new job, this post is full of useful advice. I'm sure you've heard it before-it's similar advice to what you find in a lot of places-but it's nice to get a slightly different perspective on it every once in a while.
I hope you enjoy those links.
As you read those posts, and as you do whatever your daily duties are, think about next year. It's December now and 2010 is just around the corner. I've spent a lot of the last few days thinking about my writing and non-writing goals for next year. Over the next week I'm going to make up a list of things I want to have accomplished.
I know I won't accomplish everything I want to in the year ahead-I never do. But I've learned not to get angry with myself if I don't do everything I wanted to. At the end of one year I never know what will happen in the next. Unpredictable circumstances like my laptop getting sat on can change everything in an instant.
Ask yourself what you want to accomplish over the course of the next year, both in your writing and outside of it. Remember that the Nanowrimo forums do have a Big, Fun, Scary Adventure forum which you can list your goals on and get support throughout the year, and remember that for your writing goals you can always join me at Wriye.
Feel free to share your goals with me and I will in turn share mine with you once I've listed them. I've got a lot of things in mind for this blog in particular.
Thanks for reading.

Writer's Notes
Thanks so much for your kind words and the link to Writer's Notes! Thanks, too, for a great post and the links to the two equally great ProBlogger guest posts. Both yours and Darren's have a lot of helpful info and advice to offer writers/bloggers who may need nothing more than a little motivation and inspiration to do what they love.
Take care!
Jeanne

Fictional Worlds
I am ever on a mission to find and read good stuff... and to recommend it to those who are kind enough to spend time on my blog. Besides, this way I get to keep the links so I can find them again

Writer's Notes
Posting the links that impress us to our blogs does double duty: It helps our readers now while making the links easier for us to find later! What a wonderful mutual benefit!
Thanks again!
