Slowing Down

November 21st 2008 08:08
So I've reached 240, 000 and am within ten thousand words of my original goal. At this point my wrist is really acting up, so injuries are going to massively slow down my writing from here on in-and actually I've slowed down a lot since I hit two hundred thousand.

I just want to say that Nanowrimo is a load of fun; it's been great this year as the tenth anniversary came around. People are writing so much and I'm so proud of everyone. The forums are a great place to go just to talk with other writers and read everyone else's complaints and the good stories, too.

I'm really happy with the community and the progress it's making, the progress everyone in the community has made. At the end of the month I'm going to spotlight some writing sites and other sites run by my fellow WriMos. They're great people and their sites are a lot of fun, and one of my Nano friends actually makes his living from the site and times are a bit hard for him, so I want to bring him some traffic.

I also have a fundraising page up now through a site that they've teamed up with. I haven't gotten any actual fundraising done so far but it's a great idea, so check my page out here:

On another note, I will actually be returning to my 'normal' posting routines soon... as Nano is almost over. We have less than a third of the month left! Not looking forward to the end of the month, but it's on its way. Time is really flying this year. And then comes Christmas, which I'm already dreading.

For all those who are writing with me and the 100, 000 or more writers doing Nanowrimo, keep up the good work. Even if you're behind, keep writing to see just how far you can make it. Don't worry about hitting 50K, just worry about continuing to write as much as you can every day.

And for all those who are almost there, keep going and don't look back; even if you've come to hate your story and wish your characters a painful death, keep going.

Tomorrow: The Story Of How My Story Died. (Or pep talk, depending on my mood.)
