Poem: Alone
September 6th 2009 12:49
Alone
It was cold;
winter
the harsh storm
outside
denying me
my fresh air.
I was alone
oh, so alone,
no one to talk to
no one
to listen.
It was time
to prove
how lonely
I was.
What did I do?
I bled for you.
I watched
the blood
dripping down my arm;
I wondered
how lonely
life had to get
before this point?
I cut,
oh yes I cut,
to show my pain
to the world;
and yet
I hid it
away from all but you-
the cause
of my pain.
This poem will actually be in the collection I'm working on right now, Bleed. I normally don't put poems that will be in the collections up on the blog, but I decided to this time around. I'm still working away at that collection, I've got 24 poems at the moment, and I'm hoping to get to 40 by the end of the month. I'm really hoping to release Bleed on Halloween, and any/all profits made during November will be donated to Nanowrimo.
This is one of a series of poems in Bleed which chronicle my experience as a cutter. There are several poems around this theme in the collection, telling my story. When I write A Cutter's Journey, a couple of these poems will be used at the beginning of certain chapters.
