Planning

Planning. Something some writers do, others don't, others do sometimes...
When I plan at all, it's usually a very rough outline to give me an idea of what could happen, not of what neccesarily will. Some of the larger events, of course, HAVE to happen, but most of the time I start off with a basic idea and make stuff up as I go along.
In Moonshadow's Guardian, for example, I created a Telar, or telepathic, plague and had Riana hunt down the villain. For various reasons, this happened with plenty of space left over-and time for me to do other things. Like rebuild an ancient society that lived in ruin.
Jihad, on the other hand, was sort of planned. It was based off an old role playing plot Daddy had used-or, at least, the very beginning was. In a lot of ways, the world in Jihad was designed to resemble our RP worlds, right down to the gods and goddesses. Now that I'm working on Jihad again-this is my third attempt; I had to start over a couple times about 30K in-it's got a complete plan. But of course, this doesn't need to be followed. Sometimes, unexpected things (like the elf) come along.
My Moonfairy stories were all planned out very well. They were based 100% off RPs, the characters, the characters' relationships to one another, quite a few of the places... all based off of RPs. The plots may have differed from my role plays; but the essence remained the same.
As for East Wind Road, and its sequel, these two will be vaguely planned. I know what Robyn will run into. I know what she will see, to some extent. I know that she will need-and get-help from another character who knows the horrors of East Wind Road. I know very little else about the story, and I don't plan on figuring out too much more-that ruins the joy of it for me.
What I WILL do is create character sketches... and I will post them. Posts describing the two most important characters and maybe a few of those she meets that are... East Wind Road inhabitants. Crazy people, in other words.
Do you plan? If so, how much?

But generally, I abhor planning. Theres no point. The story changes, and the plan was useless.

Wayne,
That could be interesting to read. I can't draw...

Kleo,
The problem with English is that it's too easy. It's set for the lowest common denominator, which apparently isn't me. I just sort of whizz through it and spend the rest of the time yawning.
Except for Romeo and Juliet, which I hate/hated and it hurt to read because it was just. That. Sappy.
Thanks for the comment,
