Excerpt: The Fatalis Intarnati
September 15th 2009 12:48
One of the most interesting aspects of the world Tamraq, in which my Jihad series takes place, is the Fatalis Intarnati. Here's an excerpt from my worldbuilding binder about them:
The Fatalis Intarnati
When the Council of Gods began fighting and then split into two, Those Who Are created the Fatalis Intarnati to attempt to maintain balance and order on Tamraq.
The Fatalis Intarnati are two beings that control the lives of all mortal things. One controls all humanoids and the other all animals. Elves are wildcards, controlled by neither Gods nor the Fatalis Intarnati, and Drakor/Nidhra are controlled by their patron deities. (Astarael and Dracon, respectively)
The Fatalis Intarnati only live for 10, 000 years. Then, 100 years before death, they choose children to be their eventual replacements.
The duos alternate between being male&female, both females and both males. Their names are always Fate and Destiny.
To keep them from choosing sides between Gods, Those Who Are set many rulse and restrictions upon the Fatalis Intarnati. Thus they kept Appollinia and Fidolius almost equal, but for the Chosen of each God, mortals beyond their control.
The Gods cannot challenge the Fatalis Intarnati, for this is a duty that lies solely with Those Who Are.
The second Jihad was helped along by the Fatalis Intarnati, the current set having been corrupted and until the Jihad was fully in sway unpunished. They are later punished by Those Who Are, during one of the books.

Fictional Worlds
I do lots and lots of work... as far as writing is concerned, I don't mind. The only time I really mind is when my wrist gets really bad.
What with being back in school and all I'm not going to be able to do all the writing stuff as quickly as I would like, but I do intend to spend the weekend home, writing.
You should see my binders. Heh. Pages upon pages upon pages of worldbuilding, story notes, character profiles, random writing stuff...
