To Be A Writer

January 23rd 2008 05:16
The arts; very few of us competely lack passion for all of them. I have a passion for most of them, even if I don't have a talent for them. Each and every last one of them is a cut-throat business in which it's a one in a million chance you'll succeed in.

And to walk along an artsy path is difficult. But for those of us truly passionate about our writing, we will walk along it, we will travel, and we will try and try again where others might give up and walk away.

My greatest passion is writing. I love it. It is one of the few things in life I enjoy-right up there with singing, spending time with my boyfriend, and surfing the net. Writing is my life. It is one of the only things I can see myself doing ten years down the road.

To be a writer is one of the most difficult things you can do. It's near impossible to do. It takes a hell of a lot of hard work and sheer determination, and sometimes blind luck.

I wish you all well in your writing careers-because difficult as it is, to be a writer is one of the most satisfying things you can do.

Good luck,
Dianna

Writing Is Difficult Without Computer

January 20th 2008 00:35
I've got very, very limited computer access right now (as in I only have it at my bf's), so my writing is flopping and so is my blogging.

But I AM alive. Yay.

Been Sick But I'm Back Into It

January 14th 2008 04:16
I've been getting hugely back into my writing as I recover from my stress sickness. I'm getting seriously into it because I want to make a career out of this.

This is my life, this is my dream, this is my career. It is everything to me and it is my only passion-honestly, it's the only thing other than my spirituality that I care about.

Speaking of which, I think I should start a blog about that...

My mother's being a jerk on and off about the computer, but I WILL find a way to blog EVERY DAY. Promise.

Not much to say

January 8th 2008 20:10
I wrote a couple poems, but they sucked pretty badly. So guess what? I've got nothing else to say, I'm just updating to update.

Getting Into It

January 4th 2008 04:29
I'll freely admit that for the last month, in fact starting December first, I have been completely slacking off. I wasn't going to much school but now I'm just slacking off in all areas of my life and it's something I need to stop doing.

My goal is to write fifty thousand words every month. That isn't difficult, but it's not easy to maintain that. I'm pretty confident that I CAN do it, all I need is dedication. I've been letting things interfere that shouldn't be allowed to interfere with my writing-namely, my love life

So here's my plan. I'm going to spend the next few days doing market research. I'm going to write out a list of likely markets and listing those here. That way I'll be motivated to write and submit, and you guys will see some possible markets.

I'm going to restart this blog fully ASAP, it's just I need some time to get myself organized and to get myself with ideas. Eventually everything will be back in good shape around here, but it will take some time [ Click here to read more ]

...Mot...iv...at...ion?

December 7th 2007 04:01
As a writer, one of the hardest things to do is sit down to write EVERY DAY, working on what you hope to turn into a career someday. Finding the motivation to actually write can be a completely annoying and difficult thing to do. Running low on inspiration... well, that's easy.

NaNoWriMo gives people a friendly, competitive push which drives them to the finish line out of sheer determination. It allows people to get off their asses and write. This is the kind of thing I need; right now I need a good motivational push to get me off my ass and writing again

Increasing Your Writing Productivity

November 29th 2007 17:14
So. We all have those times when we are absolute failures at productivity, and those times when we can write like a maniac. I'm going to take a look at causes, influences, and ways to increase your productivity in the next two or three posts.

First, in this post, let's look at the causes of unproductive times

E...dit...ing?

November 29th 2007 04:25
So here's my wonderful update. I have done absolutely nothing. I've started on a new poetry book, as well as writing my nanowrimo and other such wonderful things. I've started what will be a very long series of books for my nanowrimo now, and I'm going to finish editing, synopsizing, and querying with Moonshadow's Guardian.

I have to do one more generic edit of that book, plus formatting. (I WISH I knew somebody who would format the thing for me, but I don't ) I'm also writing a lot lately, because of the time of month; it tends to be my most active. THe time of year, I mean

It's been a pretty long time, huh?

November 19th 2007 04:00
Well I'm about ready to get fully into the swing of blogging. I need to find my binder with all my brainstorms in it. I promise you one post every day until Christmas break starts, at which time I should be able to start posting twice a day.

So, let me fill you in on all that has happened in my writing world. I have been writing a little here and there. I've also been doing nanowrimo like a mad woman, although I wouldn't call much of it decent fiction. I've returned to my first ever series and I'm really working on it. Starting tomorrow I'm going to get back into editing Moonshadow-and I think this will be the last edit

Time To Edit: Hours vs. Words vs. Pages

September 5th 2007 23:40
(You could also say Vs. Chapters, but let's classify that under 'pages' for my purpose.)

The next several non-update posts will be about how to go about your editing schedule. I will write two posts based around the general theory and such, an introduction and a conclusion. I will also write one post for each category-Pages, Hours, Words, and *maybe* chapters, but that will probably be pages as well

Editing Update 05/09/07

September 5th 2007 22:02
Apparently my computer desk was mortally wounded; it collapsed completely. Which means odd posts after school when I can swing it.

I've started high school, and thanks to wonderfully odd sleeping hours, I fell asleep shortly after I got home yesturday... sadly, no editing to report. I have no idea how I'm going to get any work done on Jihad, but I'll do my best. I'll write chapter two no matter if it kills me

Editing Update 2/09/07

September 3rd 2007 06:28
I've been doing the mind-numbing work that is formatting, although I've really enjoyed some of the reading involved. I've also worked on the first chapter of Jihad and it's finished. It's really short as my first chapters are wont to be, but I don't think this one needs much more detail.

After all, there's only so much a character is allowed to know upon waking up with wings in some strange place they suspect is a cult temple, right
