Dear Diary 18

Dear Diary,
It felt so amazing to wake up at a time of my choosing this day. I went to the nearest food tent and got served an early lunch of meat and potato stew with a chunk of cheese and some bread on the side; the staples of army food. Not many people were in the tent and I managed to avoid conversations as I'd hoped I would be able to.
I walked over to the healing tent and they checked on my shoulder and then re-bandaged it, saying it still looks pretty gruesome but will heal. It might leave a scar though; but I don't particularly care whether or not it does. I don't mind scars-all they mean is that I was injured while I was fighting for my country-and I've never really cared about my looks. The healers were glad that I didn't get angry or begin to cry. All the soldiers who get upset over their scars must get frustrating at times. They told me to go back to my tent and spend the day doing very little.
I quite happily followed their orders. I spent a few hours reading history books of Fidolius which I'd borrowed from the Monastery. While I was at Elorian I did only very basic studies of Fidolius, and now I have come to regret that. I was not interested in them while I was going through school; I was busy reading the history of our old lands and the history of the Drakor more than anything else.
We Elves did not originally come from this part of the world. We have our own continent, on which only a few hundred Elves still reside, with ancient towns and villages. The original Elorian is there, and should my people go back, it will be restored to its previous beauty. On this continent we built a second Elorian, a town that is on both a plateau in the mountains and in a small valley, with a prestigious school. We moved all the books from the library and built the school to mimic the original, and this became the most well known school on the continent.
Elorian is a beautiful place. When you walk into the valley part of the town, you see a few stone houses and in the center of the town-the town square-there is a large fountain. The fountain is Rasie singing, and the water flows from her mouth into a pool around her. It is crystal clear and the water never runs out; this is the magic of the Elves.
The school itself is on the plateau. It is a large building. The building is stone and most of it is gray, but the doors are all a light blue and the towers are silver and gold. When you enter into the great hall of the school you can look up and see the sky through skylights. You can walk up various sets of stairs to different dorms and different rooms, or through the hall and through a set of large, light purple doors into the dining hall.
The library is a large room with rows and rows of bookshelves which go from floor to ceiling; there are books anywhere from 7, 000 years old to 50 years young. At the back there is a section with a variety of wooden chairs and tables, and two comfortable couches as well. At the front the librarian has her desk, which is large and has a drawer where all the books are indexed.
Behind the main building there are three more: the bathhouse, which is available for males from seven until ten in the morning every day and for females from eight until ten in the evening every day; the stables; and most importantly, the training arena.
The training arena is a large round building. Half of it is built out of the mountain and half of it is actually cut into the mountain itself. Inside there is a section for changing into armour and weapons; though most Elves rich enough to send their children to Elorian buy special suits of armour and special swords for their children, there is a wall covered in different shapes and sizes of armour and the other is covered with weapons.
The main room in the arena is a large, circular room. In one section there are various punching bags and practice dummies as well as targets for arrows. Along various parts of the walls there are tapestries which show different complicated swordplay maneuvers. Across from the targets and practice dummies there is a large wooden counter with 4 cupboards in it. There are various healing materials in there as well as a storage of things that would be needed for cooking-the training arena is set up as a spot for Elves to hide in case of siege as well as part of the school.
There are two flights of stairs; climbing to either one leads you to a lookout point along the wall where you can easily shoot any attackers with arrows. It's designed almost like a fortress.
The building itself is the same gray as the mountain and made out of rock from the mountain. It is one with the mountain. Quite an interesting building.
Most of those who live in the village of Elorian, in the valley or in the couple small houses on the plateau, are either teachers at the school or miners. There is a small silver mine in the mountain, one which runs under the plateau. To get from the valley to the plateau you have to take a narrow path along the mountainside; this path is the last test to see if you are worthy of schooling there.
I personally made it up that mountain with ease, both on horseback and on foot. My father was a miner in the village and my mother was a healer that worked for Elorian. They were quite well off, coming from noble families from different places. My mother was a direct immigrant from the old continent, having come over to help with the new school. My father was born in the valley, his father having come over to build the school with a committee of Elves.
I don't know why I went off on this tangent. Perhaps because I miss my home in the mountains, perhaps because I miss my mother and father. Now I am going to sleep, though I am not nearly as tired as I have been; this rest is good for me.
