Day Seven: Different Cultures
October 19th 2009 12:47
Today you're going to be working on building and connecting different cultures.
1. Write a list of countries in your world, and beside each name write three things that makes them unique.
2. Write a paragraph expanding on one of these things (repeat for each country), what the thing is and how it makes the country it's in unique.
3. You're now going to be writing three pages about your country. You're looking at important history, for the most part. This should include a short list of dates.
Think about:
~Religion (you can either repeat the exercises we've been over for different countries, or you can just write a Basic Religion Page, which I'll explain below)
~Wars (perhaps write a summary sheet, a paragraph for each war the country has been in that explains when it was, who it was with, and why they were fighting)
~Changes in government (Ruling families, types of government... this will probably tie in with war if there are any major changes)
~Big changes in laws (more rights given to one group, peace treaties, big changes in tax or property laws, etc.0
4. Write 1-3 pages discussing relations between the country in which most of your story takes place and all the other countries over the 500-1, 000 years before your story takes place.
Religion Sheet
~Monotheistic/Pantheistic:
~(If Pantheistic) Number and genders of Deities:
~Representations: (Pick four or five things you think are important enough to be represented by their own Gods, and then decide which gender each deity is... Your list should have genders on one side and traits on the other; don't pick names yet)
~Common methods of worship: (List some nation-wide festivals and methods of prayer)
You should also do a basic profile sheet for each God and Goddess who will actually appear in your story.
