AugNoWriMo
July 18th 2008 06:36
By now, everyone who even bothers to read my blog on a sort-of frequent basis must understand that I have a deep, intrinsic love of blogging.
I just realized I've been blogging here for over a year! Nevermind that. We have more important things to talk about. Like writing goals.
Goals are what get people up in the morning, what sends them to work, even if their goal is just to survive another day at work. Goals get kids to do their homework, even if it's 'pass dammit pass'. Goals, my friends, are what get us writers going.
Yes, Nanowrimo is all about goals. This is what I love about it. It has such a community, such a spirit, such a loving group of people all headed towards the same goal. It is not about how good of a writer you are, it is not about your grammar, your originality, or anything like that.
It is about making a goal, setting a deadline, and meeting it. I love NaNoWriMo, now and forever, and this will be my... fifth year holy crap. That's okay. I love it. I love it with all my heart for everything that it embodies.
And, for practice, I'm going to be participating in AugNoWriMo this year as well, aiming for fifty thousand words in 20 days. I have a story and everything, and I hope to blog actively during this period as well. Even if it's just to say 'holy crap I wrote twenty five thousand words today!'
Fictional Worlds itself is coming close to a year of existence, and I Wish This Were 42 is already there. I'm glad to still be here and I hope that the devotion that keeps me coming back will also keep me on track this August.
Really Long Link
Anyone who wishes to join me may comment here, and I would love to have people encouraging me throughout the month, and kicking me in the pants to write should I need it, which I probably will.
I am so glad to be writing this-not only because it's about NaNoWriMo, in a way, which is my life for two months out of every year (half of October, all of November, and half of December), and a passion for me-but also because I have the dedication to still be writing here.
And because I'd love to see some of you take on this challenge with me.
Come on, I dare you.
