About the Dear Diary Project
February 20th 2009 06:03
Hi everyone. I just want to first off apologize about the hard time I have been having recently with posting consistently. I am doing all that I can.
During the past month-almost month-I have been posting almost exclusively my daily 'Dear Diary' written from the point of view of Astarael, The Lady, Goddess of Death, during the Great War in the world of Jihad. It has been a very interesting month, and in this post I am going to tell you what it has been like for me to write the Dear Diary project.
Before beginning this project, I had already been working with Astarael for a few years and I knew her character quite well, though only in the sorrowful moments I imagined that stemmed from a beautiful past. I had a very clear image of her in my mind, what she would do, how she would act, how she would love.
However I did not realize the full extent of her character, or of the pain that these wars caused her, until I began writing. As each word of this character's heart and soul has poured itself onto paper, I have felt my heart wrenching out of my chest, I have felt her pain. It is tiring, in a way, to be so in tune with this character, but at the same time it is amazing.
Writing this has not only given me more ideas about what went on during the war, but it has shown me more of what life was like before the war, just how much they had to rebuild after the war, and so much more. I am learning things about this world and this character I could have never imagined.
At times it gets tedious, like writing a normal journal. I can see how frustrating the situation is, and I can feel the pain that rolls off of her. It is like visiting and writing down an open wound, and it grows tedious. I will be glad when the month is over and I have written all of my Dear Diaries.
This project has given me amazing insight into the world and the character. I have learned so much in the last 20 days that I didn't know during the five years I've been working on the Jihad project.
Jihad has grown completely overwhelming, and it is absolutely amazing to watch.
Thanks for reading everyone. Sleep well, dream peacefully. Wait for the next Dear Diary to come out.
