A Short Poem

Lost
------
I am lost.
You found me
a long time ago
lost on the shores
of despair
waves crashing in
around me;
it was almost
high tide.
You called me
out of the darkness
into the light;
showed me
your love
that humans can be kind.
I followed you
from one place to the next
seeking only
the warmth of your arms
wrapping themselves around me
and praying
for the touch
of your soft lips to mine.
One day
you took me
to the ocean;
I remembered
the darkened times
you kissed me
and you said
"I'm sorry"
and then
you were gone-
and now
you have still not come back.
I need you
to return
I don't know
my way back
to the places you showed me;
please
come save me-
I am lost without you.
