A Reading List
January 27th 2010 12:28
I've decided that as well as making writing goals for this year, I'm going to create a list of books that I want to read this year. Of course the list is subject to change at any moment, depending on how quickly I'm reading. It also depends on things like money and what I can find in the library. Some of these books are fiction, some of them are non-fiction, and a couple of them are books about writing.
Here goes:
Fiction
~A Scientific Romance-I'm reading this one, almost done
~A Series Of Unfortunate Events 11-I'm too lazy to find it and look at the title right now. Not the best of books, but I just want to finish the series...
~George R. R. Martin's A Game Of Thrones-I read part of this one, and then my copy was stolen. Got a new one, will start over.
~George R. R. Martin's A Clash Of Kings-I lucked into getting this book... someone was giving it away! Crazy! Means I can read the first two books right away.
~The second book in the wolf series I started reading last year. Too lazy to search for it and don't want to wake anyone up to ask where it is.
~Give Up The Ghost By Megan Crewe-I'm going to be buying this with my last Chapters card from Christmas when I finish the Unfortunate Events one.
~The Black Dagger Brotherhood series-is a series cheating? Well, I'm listing it as one book. Really interesting concepts, and I've heard good things.
~Curse the Dawn by Karen Chance-this seems like it could be a really fascinating/really good vampire book. It could also suck. We'll see.
Non-fiction/books about writing:
~Self Editing For Fiction Writers by Browne and King
~The First Five Pages by Noah Lukeman
~Nelson Mandela-it's a biography of Nelson Mandela. I'm reading it but it's rather dry. It was better at the beginning.
~Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond.
I also want to do some reading up on Native culture and history here in Canada and I'd like to read up more on the history of Scotland. Don't have any titles yet.
Are there any books that you want to read this year?
