A Couple Links

May 14th 2010 12:26
It's been a long, exhausting week. A lot of friends are going through a lot of stress, and between helping them out and trying to attend school, I've had very little time to do much of anything over the last few days. I've-barely-managed to find a couple of interesting articles for you to read over the weekend.

~Creative Journaling Topic Ideas is an article on Suite101 with different ideas for journal entries. If you're looking for inspiration for your introspective Dear Diary this week, you can find plenty of interesting thoughts here.

~Confessional Poetry: How Should we Write About Ourselves? This is another article from Suite101 talking about the different opinions on personal journal style poetry, which I found interesting in light of my own poetry journal.

That was all I had time to hunt for this week. I hope you enjoy them, and good luck with your weekend of writing-we're almost halfway through the month! I don't know about you, but I'm pretty happy with my progress so far.

I read both posts. The one about journal topics intereted me particularly. If I get stuck for plot for Elgin, there's a couple there I could use. I think the "parquet floor" entry is much like the idea of "describe the room" one. : ) That made me laugh.

This is a fun exercise since it is (relatively) short and - moreover - I can EDIT! : ) Unlike nano/SFrenzy where it's all forward momentum. But still ... publish or be damned ...there is only so much thinking before I hit metaphoric print. Always end up reviewing and thinking... bah! X could be better. forgot Y. Should add Z.

: )

Latest is here ...

RP,

The beauty of writing a journal for your character is that if your character would edit, you can edit; if your character wouldn't, you don't have to.

I'm really glad you're enjoying this exercise and I love what I've read so far.
