Fictional Worlds - February 2008

So...

February 29th 2008 03:36
In three weeks I'll have nowhere to stay for more than two weeks or so. I'm being kicked out.

But I will continue writing 'cause I'm stubborn like that. I will get a big break in writing, I'm pretty sure of it. And I grow surer every day.

Right after my removal from home I'm going to be at a friend's for a week or two, and I might bribe my mother to let me come back for a week after that while I sort out a more permanent location. Said friend has no internet so my actual appearances here will be spotty.

On the plus side, I still have my boyfriend who I love more than anything. I'm clingy at times... but I do love him.

And I will survive,
No matter the obstacles;
I will make it,
No matter the odds;
I will live a better life than she did,
No matter the implausibility.

For I have you,
My hope,
My light,
My shining star;
And as long as I have you,
And all that you are,
I will survive;
And I will thrive
No matter how bad it gets.

Although I fear it can get no worse.

Writing Is My Work

February 27th 2008 04:40
Writing is my work, my passion, my joy in life. Writing is everything to me; it is the one thing I have had for six years, the one thing that I rely on and trust in.

And there may be something called a 'day job' but I'm praying I'll never need one. I guess I didn't really see much hope until that publication. Now I'm out searching for more of the same and I'm ridiculously happy.

I so look forward to it. I really do. The day that I can make a decent living off of writing is the day I've been waiting for all my life.

And it all begins with one little publication... free or not. Someday it'll be my real life, the life of a writer and novelist. I'm going to make a name for myself in the writing world. I'm determined.

I think the one thing to learn is try try again. If you have a passion and talent, and you love it enough to make it your life, go for a career in writing. We can all make it. Every single person out there with the talent ant the willpower, the determination and the hard work, can make it. There may not be too many of us, then again there may be.

We may not become world-wide bestsellers. We may not be known to every household.

But we can survive, hell we can thrive, doing what we love.

...I win...

February 25th 2008 02:30
Thank you very much for your submission! We'd love to include it in the March edition of the Rag.

Poetry Editot

Thanks for emailing the editors of Sheroes Rag! Our next issue comes out on March 4, so make sure to submit by February 25. You can also visit our site at www.freewebs.com/sheroesrag, and our forum on Sheroes Fans.

Oh. My. Gods. This came in my email today and now I refuse to sleep because I'm so hyper. My first ever publication! It's nothing big... it's not even paid... but I don't care... it's a foot in the door and it counts as a publishing credential so there.

This is proof that you CAN do it. You just need to try. Repeatedly. Often. And one day you will win.

If you have the talent and the determination. You will be published. You may not 'make it' but I think you can.

And I'm just hoping that this is the first of many good events in my writing career...

Blogging 101: Ten Big Mistakes

February 22nd 2008 16:23
Yeah, I'm low on ideas so here's what I have. Ten big mistakes of blogging, at least five of which I probably committed at least once in my life.

1) Posting once. And then never again. You need to post consistently

So it's not quite every day yet...

February 21st 2008 15:29
However I have been writing! I've been writing quite a lot lately, actually, and the other day I sent out two of my poems to small no-pay markets. I need to get my name out there somehow, even if it's just 'I was published by Unheard of Magazine 1', ya know?

I've been very hard-working, studying, looking at things, reading, writing, all sorts of things lately. My school attendance is still lacking and that is simply because I don't care. I don't care about my education. Really

To hold you in my arms forever,
Would be a dream come true;
And the only thing that I'm afraid of

Back

February 14th 2008 12:41
Have you ever noticed that the best writers go through some of the hardest times? I cannot begin to describe to you how much I have suffered in the last two months. I was fighting with my mother; I went into an open relationship before being dumped by a guy I'm completely head over heels with, I managed to fail all my first semester classes, and I suffered a hospital overnight after which I became severely stress sick for over a week.

All writers go through times like these. And I have written so much and been so inspired during this whole time that I'm almost grateful for the pain. In the end though, it all worked out well
