Fictional Worlds - December 2007

And so...

December 10th 2007 05:10
Yep. My titles are random.

I'm happy to say that the blogger over at
-twothousandwords.blogspot.com

Has accepted my 100, 000 words by October first deal. In fact, she should be well over that by October first, should all go well. I'm hoping to get in a lot of writing tonight, but I don't think I will. Up until about five minutes ago, I was a jumpy bundle of nerves, but right now I am just completely exhausted. I feel almost like I want to sleep.

My writing is going along quite well. Well, okay, no it isn't, but I would like to think it is, and it will be going quite well in the near future. I'm going to read my writing markets newsletters (fundsforwriters.com) for the last couple weeks tonight and pick out two or three markets. My goal for the new year-and hopefully this month-is to submit one story a month to a magazine or competition.

So tonight I'll pick out themes and markets. I'm very, very, very tired right now and nothing will be coherent from this point on tonight, so no point really trying to write; I'm just doing dishes and then sleeping. There you go.

I promise to post tomorrow-well, uh, today, since it's after midnight now-before I go to sleep.

Honest, I will! *gives very convincing look* *Falls asleep*

Life Is Crashing Down Around My Ears

December 10th 2007 04:51
Life is
Crashing down around my ears
It's
Coming down in the here and now
Going
All to hell

And everything just seems like one big mistake right now
Everything just seems like it's gonna become
More than I can take
Just now
And I don't know that I can handle
All that pressure on me

I love you
But I'm loved by another
And I know that I could love him too
I'm stuck in between a rock and a hard spot
Choosing one brother over the other

And to be fair
All things are clear
If my feelings
My readings
Are right-

I know that I may break your heard,
So I might just want to leave
First...

(In other words, I haven't updated because I've been very, very stressed lately...)

...Mot...iv...at...ion?

December 7th 2007 04:01
As a writer, one of the hardest things to do is sit down to write EVERY DAY, working on what you hope to turn into a career someday. Finding the motivation to actually write can be a completely annoying and difficult thing to do. Running low on inspiration... well, that's easy.

NaNoWriMo gives people a friendly, competitive push which drives them to the finish line out of sheer determination. It allows people to get off their asses and write. This is the kind of thing I need; right now I need a good motivational push to get me off my ass and writing again.

In the end, I'm sitting here with no motivation. Guess what?

If you can motivate me, I will be completely happy. All I really need is some competition and friendship on my writing journey. So, is anyone interested in a friendly competition similar to NaNoWriMo, something along the lines of 'let's see who can write more' with a minimum of X amount of words by November first...

Any motivation?

And in return, I make the offer of a competition with a minimum word count of 100K by November first (not that much), excluding blog posts, and to see whoever got more...

Writing Exercise: Running Away

December 5th 2007 21:02
I ran away once, just for a day and a night; I couldn't stand to see her face anymore. I couldn't stand being where I was anymore. I grabbed a backpack and just left, went out, took everything with me. And let me tell you, being free was one of the best things I've ever felt.

It made me more excited for the day I turn eighteen, the day I'm free to leave, the day my sentence in this jail is over. It makes me wish I could leave right now, or leave tomorrow; it makes me wish I was free to just fly away

NaNoWriMo has one thing about it that just happens to be advice from some of the best writers in my opinion-such as Stephen King. This one thing is that it makes you write, EVERY DAY, or suffer the consequences-a longer catch up day or a severe lack of winning.

This is advice given to writers by many, many, many serious writers. I can't help but echo it to some extent. I mean, as a drudge worker, you show up for work every day, do you not? Well, unless you're sick or on vacation. As a writer, you should love your job, and even when it feels like grunt work, be willing to stick with it. You should show up for work every day unless you're really sick or on vacation-but don't allow yourself any more vacation time (I'd say it should be more like half the vacation time) than a grunt worker would have

Les Writing...

December 3rd 2007 20:46
Have you ever really wanted to write, but had no idea what to write about? I live that life; I've always got an idea in my subconscious that stays there. It rots. And rots. Until finally, it comes out and announces itself and I'm all happy-like.

Other than that, I've gotten very little done in the last few days. I've been free of motivation since November ended, probably out of sheer tiredness. I think I need to take a break from thinking about stories or novels at all for a couple days

The Beginning Of The End...

December 3rd 2007 07:36
No, the title doesn't really have to do with much of anything. This is going to be my Blogging 101 series, the first post of it. I'm sleepless, out of sheer willpower, not the inability to sleep (I'm waiting for my second wind here... HINT WORLD), so here I am, typing away.

I started this blog a couple months ago. And let me tell you, this blog is part of what is, for me, a beacon of hope. I'm really starting to work towards my single most difficult goal: to be able to survive solely off of my writing by the time I hit eighteen, or at least my arts. I'm into arts other than writing, but writing is my biggest passion in life

So. How do I get myself productive?

December 2nd 2007 22:44
The main causes of block are stress, sickness, and business. Guess what? Every last cause has its anti.

My first suggestion is to try and identify exactly what it is blocking you. If it's just that you seriously can't think anything up right now, you need to give your imagination a brief break or try writing freestyle if it's that urgent of a need
